XP on Intel Macs
First it was Narf and Blanca, then a week later, Apple announced Boot camp , and now the future may be Parallels’ workstation solution. Whatever the setup, WinXP and other OSes are running on the new Intel Macs around the world. This is great for the AAPL stock price, for those who need some Windows capabilities for the office, but would rather spend most of their time on a Mac (but don’t want two laptops). Most importantly, this is huge for us, the Mac Poker Players of the world. Now from the safety of your MacBook Pro, you can open WinXP, logon to a windows only download client, run a copy of Poker Tracker and grow your bankroll. Here’s how you do it:
1. You need an Intel Mac. If you don’t have one buy an iMac, MacBook Pro or the new 17″ MacBook Pro at the Apple Store:
2. Download and install a free copy of Boot Camp. Make sure you have a copy of the installation notes.
3. Partition your drive.
4. Install a copy of WinXP.
5. Download one of the PC only clients at Bodog, Ultimate Bet or Doyle’s Room.
6. Open them up and play.
7. Advanced Maneuvers: Buy a copy of PokerTracker. Or just use MacPoker Pro if you are playing at one of the Pokerroom skins.
